INVITATION TO THE SIGNING CEREMONY OF THE CHARTER, FORMATION COUNCIL OF PALM OIL PRODUCING COUNTRIES

Malaysia and Indonesia will sign the Charter on the formation of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Saturday, 21st November 2015. This ceremony will be witnessed by the Rt. Hon Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Rt. Hon President of Indonesia.
Malaysia and Indonesia, currently account for 85 per cent of global palm oil production are the founding members of CPOPC and the membership of CPOPC is open to all oil palm cultivating countries. The objectives of CPOPC include:
- Promote consultation on the development of the palm oil industry among the stakeholders in the oil palm cultivating countries;
- Enhance the welfare of the oil palm smallholders;
- Develop and establish a global framework of principles for sustainable palm oil; and
- Cooperate in research and development, and training.
H.E. Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Plantatitons Industries and Commodities (MPIC) and H.E. Dr. Rizal Ramli, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Resources Indonesia will attending the signing ceremony of the Charter on the formation of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) as stated below:
