ERICSSON MALAYSIA MEDIA BRIEFING - DECEMBER 14, 2015
Tuesday 08/12/2015
Members of the media are invited for a special briefing session by Todd Ashton, President of Ericsson Malaysia and Sri Lanka as he reveal more details on Mobility Report 2015 and Hot Consumer Trends report 2016.
Findings from the latest edition of Ericsson's 2015 Mobility Report revealed that the mobile penetration is increasing in the country with over 80% of Malaysians owning a handphone and is expected to grow to more than 100% by 2018. This is supported by the recent announcement in Budget 2016 where allocation of 1.2 billion will be provided to improve the telecommunication infrastructures, proving a huge opportunity for operators to capture the growth of smartphone users in the country.
In view of the new year, Ericsson is also releasing insights on Hot Consumer Trends to look out for in 2016. The report examines how users interact with the fast evolving technology consumption patters. The hot trends will take a deep dive into trends such as the future of emergency calls and how smartphone users are vulnerable to the increasing issues of hacking.
Only a few years ago, there was a lot of focus on how the internet is influencing consumers. However, now consumers are using the internet to influence what goes on around them. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the consumer consumption patterns to conceptualize the future. Both, Mobility Report and Hot Consumer Trends report imagines future forms of communication.
