About MOSTI Social Innovation (MSI)

MOSTI Social Innovation (MSI) is one of the programmes implemented under the innovation game changer and the government of Malaysia has given the mandate to the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) to implement its social innovation programme for the year 2016.

The purpose of the MSI programme is to help people and communities such as the elderly, the poor, women and others meet the needs and improve the well-being through the implementation of projects, services, skill upgrading or innovation using existing technologies.

The project implemented should be quick-win, low-cost, can be executed quickly (not exceeding six months), demand-driven, high-impact and sustainable.

In relation to this, MTDC has been given a mandate to undertake eight (8) MSI projects. Thus, MTDC has appointed eight technology/service providers from MTDC’s CRDF recipients and university to execute the eight approved projects. The projects’ clusters are Biotechnology, Industry, Sea-to-Space (S2S) and Science & Technology Core (TSNT).
