Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob launched the MARii Tracker in conjunction with the 100-day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia.CYBERJAYA, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- The MARii Tracker, developed locally by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) found its application in the continuation of skills training in educational institutions under the purview of the Department of Manpower (JTM), a department under the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR).
The MARii Tracker is an all-in-one solution for contact tracing, social distancing compliance, and location tracking within business premises. It features a Bluetooth device that tracks the movement of individuals within a premise and stores contact tracing information, visitor logs, supply chain information, and standard operating procedure (SOP) enforcement within any premise, all in real-time and in the cloud.
The MOHR announced that the tracking initiative will be utilised to contain the spread of COVID-19 at JTM institutions, during its launch at the Keluarga Malaysia Career Carnival by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in conjunction with the 100-day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia.
JTM will be the first institution to use the tracker developed by MARii, to enable more efficient close contact tracing and avoid any further shutdown should any trainee be infected by COVID-19.
"We are happy that the technology developed by MARii for the manufacturing sector has been identified and used by the education sector, in particular skills training where it is very difficult to train using online methods. The technology combines physical and digital technologies to ensure that activities in which on-location presence are required can continue within the new norms as we move towards the endemic stage of COVID-19", said Dato' Madani Sahari, MARii CEO.
"We also believe that the deployment of the MARii Tracker provides the peace of mind to the parents of trainees and students that their children are within an environment that is safe and efficiently administered to prevent outbreaks in the future", added Dato' Madani.
The Tracker unit is worn by individuals within a premise, and emits an audible alarm when two or more dongles come within a range of less than one (1) meter, indicating social distancing protocols are not practiced. The data is also captured by the system administrator for logging, analysis and any corrective action.
In the case of individuals testing positive for the coronavirus, administrators are able to track and identify areas exposed to infections through a cloud-based dashboard for the MARii Tracker. This eases the identification and isolation of close contacts of infected individuals, while allowing unaffected individuals to continue working without risk.
This makes the MARii Tracker highly suited for SOP compliance in premises that requires a high population of its workforce to be present on-site, such schools, training institutions and others.
